After a 5 year run, Nelly and Ashanti have called it quits. The couple only became public about their relationship last November. It was only a few months ago in March that Ashanti said “a wedding was absolutely in the cards.” But according to New York Daily News, the hip-hop couple split due to Nelly’s opposition to getting married. Rumor has it that Nelly has already been out on the seen with video girls Jessica aka Miss Rabbit and Melyssa Ford. Sources close to Ashanti claim that she is taking the breakup a bit harder. Lets hope she turns that energy into making an album!
Not so surprised: According to In touch Magazine, Janet Jackson is writing a tell-all book about her family. After the death of her brother, Janet says writing the book will help her heal. Reps for Janet tell In Touch:
“She is going to talk about Michael’s death and how it’s ffected her and his children and the rest of the family… A lot of it will focus on her battle with self-esteem and weight. “
“She’s a huge success. But that’s not always what she has seen when she looks in the mirror, so the book will talk about how she has coped, and about her family relationships. She wants to help other young women out there.
No offense to the Jacksons, but they seem to be all over the media after Michaels death. Jermaine has his version of Smile on Itunes, Letoya well shes trying to gain some lime light and now Janet with her book? Talk about mourning.
In other news this weekend, Rapper Snoop Dog was spotted at the VIP ROOM in St. Tropez Friday night. I mean the man is still married (technically) is all this bumpin’ and grinding necessary? Not Cool.
This weekend in the Box-Office we have some newbies…I have to admit I’ve contributed to not one but two of these top ten movies this weekend. Inglorious Basterds and The Time Traveler’s Wife. Okay so I seen a midnight showing of Inglorious Basterds, I personally feel like it lacked for a being a Tarantino flick. Granted his movies are long, but I feel like some scenes were over extended. I give it a 2.5 out of 4. Brad Pitt was great though! As for The Time Traveler’s Wife…I had free tickets to it, I enjoyed it. Sappy love story as predicted, and yes I did shed a tear. Loves it.
Inglorious Basterds -$37,602,000
District 9 – $18,900,000
G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra -$12,500,000
The Time Traveler’s Wife -$10,025,000
Julie & Julia -$9,000,000
Shorts -$6,600,000
G-Force- $4,205,000
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – $3,515,000
I know that I do “This Week in Twitter” on Fridays, but couldn’t help but mention that rapper Bow Wow revelaed on his twitter page last night that he is now signed to Cash Money Records. His message read
“BOW WOW SIGNS TO CASH MONEY.” Then went on to say;
“Its the triple threat Bow, Wayne, Drake. Its about to be real stupid.”
“Any Bow Wow fan that I let down..what I am getting ready to do, I got y’all. I apologize to the fans that I let down. It’s finna to go down. Its on now, baby. Me, Drake and Weezy…lets get to the money.”
Cash Money seems to be making big moves, but is Bow Wow really “that big?” hmm no comment. What do you think? Click below to keep reading…
For this Weekend Wrap-Up, we have the top ten Movies of the weekend, Country Meets Hip-Hop, and a Brunette turned Blonde
So I have to admit I was planning on watching G.I.Joe this weekend, but something much more interesting happened to come up. LOL Anyways, although Number 1 this weekend @ the box office, the reviews weren’t so good. Word of mouth is that it didnt hold up to anyones expectations. Now I don’t feel so bad not watching it, I plan to just Netflix the joint. Aside from that, Julie and Julia has recieved great reviews, def chick flick, and yes I plan to watch it. Check out the rest of the the top ten…
1. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - $56,200,000
